A True North QUESTS Workshop in Ashland, Oregon???

Town Square in Ashland, Oregon
Town Square in Ashland, Oregon

As Pete and I look forward to a possible True North QUESTS workshop in Ashland, Oregon, we've been thinking of all the fun things to do in and around Southern Oregon.

Pete and I have lived in Siskiyou County on the Oregon border for over 30 years, and one of our favorite date destinations is Ashland. This quaint little town is also where we attend church at The Story, so we often combine church and date on Sundays in Ashland. (And since we're posting this blog article on Valentine's Day, we recommend Ashland as a date location for you too!)

So, as we plan for our first official True North QUESTS workshop, we'd like to share with you our top 5 list of fun things to do in and around Southern Oregon.

  1. Lithia Park - Located just west of Ashland's quaint town square is a lush botanical park with easy hiking trails that run alongside the rambling waters of Lithia Creek. This is an absolute must-see. (And it's where Pete and Julie had their first date!)

  2. Shakespeare Theatre - Built in 1935, Ashland is home to America's first Ellizabethan theatre, a beautiful outdoor theatre, which is part of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The outdoor theatre isn't open until the summer months, but you can take in high-quality (though sometimes edgy) plays throughout the year.

  3. Historic Jacksonville - Jacksonville is a historic Gold Rush town now known for a thriving cultural and epicurean scene, and named one of America’s top 10 coolest small towns by Budget Travel Magazine. There's so much history here, plus wine tasting and great restaurants.

  4. Crater Lake - One of the 7 wonders of the world and the deepest lake in America, Crater Lake is nestled within a volcanic crater at an elevation of nearly 2,000 feet high. CAUTION: Extreme weather conditions can exist between October and June.

  5. Ashland - There's a lot of history and charm to Ashland, and both sightseeing tours and self-guided tours are available.

Let us know if you're interested in joining us for a True North QUESTS workshop in Ashland! We promise to give you break times to explore these and other scenic places in and around the quaint little town.

Enjoy!

P.S. Other fun things to do in Southern Oregon include:

  • The Cabaret Theatre

  • Wine and Vineyard Tours, i.e. Belle Fiore in Ashland and Del Rio Vineyards near Grants Pass

  • A Visit to or Tour of Harry and David's Bear Creek Store in Medford

  • Skiing on Mt. Ashland

  • Cross Country Skiing & Snowmobiling (various beautiful locations)
